How to Make Classic Pizza at Home

Pizza can be made with a wide variety of toppings, including meats, vegetables, seafood, and cheeses, and can be customized to suit individual preferences. Pizza is a popular food worldwide and is available in many different styles, from classic Neapolitan-style pizza to New York-style pizza and Chicago-style pizza.



Here is a classic recipe for making homemade pizza:

Ingredients:

  • 1 (1/4 ounce) package active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm water (110 degrees F/45 degrees C)
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup tomato sauce
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh basil
  • Toppings of your choice (such as sliced mushrooms, pepperoni, onions, etc.)

Preparation:

In a large mixing bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water. Let sit for 5 minutes, or until foamy.Stir in flour, olive oil, and salt, and mix until a soft dough forms. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes.Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C).Punch down the dough and roll it out to fit a greased pizza pan. Spread tomato sauce over the dough and top with mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, basil and your favorite toppings.Bake in preheated oven for 15 to 20 minutes, or until crust is golden brown and cheese is melted.

You can use store bought pizza dough or frozen dough. Also, you can top your pizza with any toppings of your choice, such as pepperoni, vegetables, sausage, or seafood. You can also experiment with different types of cheese like feta, Gouda or provolone.

Here is a variation of pizza recipe, it's called Pizza Margarita



Ingredients:

  • 1 pound pizza dough
  • 1/2 cup tomato sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated mozzarella cheese
  • 4 basil leaves, chopped

Preparation:

Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C) and place a baking stone or upside-down baking sheet in the oven to preheat.Roll out the pizza dough on a floured surface to the desired thickness.Spread tomato sauce over the dough, leaving a 1/2-inch border around the edges. Sprinkle with oregano, salt, and pepper.Sprinkle Parmesan cheese and mozzarella cheese over the sauce.Carefully slide the pizza onto the preheated baking stone or baking sheet.Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and cheese is melted.Garnish with basil leaves before serving.

You can make this pizza with store-bought pizza dough or homemade dough.
