Here is a recipe for classic barbecue pulled pork:

Ingredients:

  • 1 (5-6 lb) bone-in pork shoulder
  • 2 cups apple cider vinegar
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tbsp paprika
  • 2 tbsp garlic powder
  • 2 tbsp onion powder
  • 2 tsp mustard powder
  • 1 tsp cayenne pepper
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Preparation:

  1. Preheat your grill or smoker to 225°F.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together the apple cider vinegar, ketchup, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, mustard powder, cayenne pepper, salt and pepper.
  3. Rub the pork shoulder all over with the mixture, making sure to get it into all the crevices.
  4. Place the pork shoulder on the grill or smoker and cook for 8-10 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches at least 190°F.
  5. Remove the pork shoulder from the grill or smoker and let it rest for 30 minutes.
  6. Using two forks, shred the pork into bite-sized pieces.
  7. Serve the pulled pork on buns with your favorite barbecue sauce.

Alternatively, you can cook this recipe in oven,

  1. Preheat your oven to 300°F.
  2. Rub pork shoulder with the mixture and place it in a roasting pan.
  3. Cover the pan with foil and bake for 8-10 hours or until the internal temperature reaches 190°F.
  4. Remove the pork shoulder from the oven and let it rest for 30 minutes.
  5. Using two forks, shred the pork into bite-sized pieces.
  6. Serve the pulled pork on buns with your favorite barbecue sauce.
